Meet the Crew of the FREDERICK PAUP

Get ready to meet the incredible crew aboard the dredge FREDERICK PAUP! From seasoned captains to skilled engineers and electricians, each member brings their unique expertise and interests to the table, ensuring the success of the vessel’s operations.


CAPTAINS


Responsibilities: Co-Captains Eric Wong and Mike Coffey share responsibilities to oversee all dredge operations on the FREDERICK PAUP. They ensure safe navigation and maritime compliance while operating the dredge and managing the rotating crew, 24 hours/day and 365 days/year, on nationwide dredging projects.

Time with Manson: 24 Years


Career Background: Eric joined Manson in the early 2000s, working on projects that include the Thimble Shoals Channel Maintenance Dredging project in Virginia.


Prior to Manson, Eric earned his stripes working with Master Mates and Pilots, the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association, and Panama Canal Tugs.


Interests: Traveling across the globe.

Time with Manson: 18 years


Career Background: Mike joined Manson in 2007, working on several maintenance dredging projects along the West Coast and in the Southeast including the West Coast Hopper Maintenance Dredging project in Portland and the Galveston Harbor and Channel Maintenance Dredging project in Texas. Mike holds more than 25 years of experience in the maritime industry. Prior to his dredging career, he was in the United States Coast Guard.


Interests: Camping, fishing, and automotive restorations.


CHIEF ENGINEERS


Responsibilities: Oversees the operation and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems of the dredge to ensure proper performance.

Time with Manson: 20 years


Career Background: Jerry joined Manson in 2005, starting out on the build team for the hopper dredge GLENN EDWARDS. Jerry started his maritime career on an oil tanker in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, he worked as an electrician and then reentered the maritime industry building ferries for the Alaska Marine Highway.


Interests: Cruising the coast of Maine and deer hunting.

Paul Stagg-Chief Engineer

Time with Manson: 6 years


Career Background: Paul has worked in the maritime industry since the late ‘90s, primarily in the oil and gas drilling industry. He joined Manson in 2019 as an assistant engineer on the hopper dredge NEWPORT before moving to the GLENN EDWARDS as a chief engineer.


Interests: Spending time with family and traveling
