This national recognition honors beach restoration projects that deliver meaningful benefits in shoreline resiliency, ecosystem health, and local economic support. Winning projects are evaluated based on three key criteria: economic and ecological impact, project success, and innovative solutions to site-specific challenges.

A key initiative for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (“USACE”) Portland and Los Angeles Districts and the surrounding communities, this project represents the first phase of a 50-year coastal management plan. Under the plan, beach nourishment will occur every 10 years in Solana Beach and every five years in Encinitas. The effort is designed to help stabilize two major coastal destinations, which together welcome nearly three million beachgoers annually.
