PROJECT PURPOSE
The purpose of this project was to restore several marshes that make up the LaBranche Wetlands. Rebuilding these marshes will help protect local populations and benefit local wildlife—specifically the local fisheries and birds—and will increase storm protection in the region.
Crews dredged over 6.2 million cubic yards of material from Lake Pontchartrain to revitalize more than 1,200 acres of marsh.
