Manson’s derrick barge WOTAN loaded out a Blow Out Preventer (BOP) to Transocean’s drillship, DEEPWATER NAVIGATOR. This lift was complex due to the delicate nature of the BOP and the narrow clearances of the drillship. The BOP was designed to be installed in two sections and because of the ship’s operating draft, the lifts were required to be made offshore.
