Pier 57 Piling and Ferris Wheel Foundation

PROJECT FEATURES
- • Installed 53 new steel piles, 3 ft. in diameter and filled with reinforced concrete
• Approximately 980 cubic yards of concrete was placed over the course of the project
• Rebar sections at the top of the piles were 8 ft. long and installed to create the anchor link between the piles and the concrete platform

PROJECT PURPOSE
The Seattle waterfront is home to the iconic Seattle Great Wheel, one of the largest Ferris wheels on the West Coast, and one of only three ever built over water. Manson built the foundation for the Wheel, providing a structurally sound base for the new public attraction.
