PROJECT PURPOSE
Severe coastal erosion prompted the repair of a sand barrier dune near the mouth of Willapa Bay. This area is the home of the Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe and the barrier dune protects the shoreline and local residences from heavy Pacific Ocean storms and maintains habitats for the snowy plover and the streaked horned lark, two endangered bird species.
