Project Purpose

Named the world’s longest floating bridge by Guinness World Records at the time of its opening, this bridge is an important transportation link providing a safe and efficient route across lake Washington.

Replacing the existing floating bridge is a new six-lane, 1.4 mile long concrete floating bridge. The bridge was constructed with water tight pontoons, connected end-to-end, held in place with heavy steel cables anchored to the lake bottom, and a roadway added on top.
