Ship Shoal, 291 "B" Platform Salvage
Owner: Apache Corporation
Location: Gulf of Mexico
Project Duration: 09/2009
This project involved salvaging a platform in over 235’ of water. The work required both traditional and innovative tools to negotiate the salvage. Manson’s subsidiary, Manson Gulf, performed this project and used hydraulic shears and other cutting tools to sever the platform into pieces and load them onto the material barge. The pieces were then sent to a scrap yard for proper disposal and recycling. One of the most difficult aspects of this project was production time. Because of the significant water depth, divers were only allowed 20 minutes of air time at the salvage site resulting in one dive every three hours. Despite these challenges, Manson Gulf successfully completed this project safely and on schedule.
