Project Description:

This project involved the demolition of the existing 940’ long Berth 22 and the construction of a new concrete container wharf.  The wharf construction included driving 583 concrete piles and the placement of nearly 10,000 cubic yards of structural concrete.  The project also included installation of a 100’ gauge crane rail, wharf electrical and mechanical systems, the development of a half-acre container yard, dredging of approximately 100,000 cubic yards of material, and construction of a rock dike. The new Berth 22 is capable of docking international super freighters.
