Project Description
The Siesta Key project consisted of restoring two miles of beach from four separate borrow areas. The southerly limit of the project was 7.5 nautical miles south of the southern tip of Longboat Key and 27.5 nautical miles from Egmont Key.
The neat advertised fill quantity was 887,400 cubic yards. The berm averaged 178 feet in width and the slopes were 1:10. A dune and stockpile area also were built. The stockpile was 13,270 cubic yards, and the dune was 26,380 cubic yards. The beach averaged 87 cubic yards/linear feet, with a maximum of 105 cubic yards/linear feet.
Other features of work included removal of a derelict structure, dune planting, beach tilling, and vibration monitoring.
