Project Description:
The purpose of this project was to create a 1,200 slip boat marina covering approximately 2,200 feet by 800 feet at the base of the Magnolia Bluff in Seattle, Washington. Key elements of the work included dike and breakwater construction as well as a “rubble mound” breakwater. The 500,000 cubic yard breakwater, reaching an elevation of 20 feet, was installed for protection to the south. Additionally, an 850 linear foot breakwater was constructed of steel H-piles and concrete panels to protect the west face and a floating concrete breakwater was constructed to protect the east.
Manson constructed concrete bridge roadway off-ramps to the site as well as facility improvements including sewer and water line installation and asphalt paving. Manson also established environmentally mitigated fish habitats to replace those lost by construction.
Manson received a Letter of Commendation from the Elliot Bay Marina Group for this project.
