Project Description
Manson Construction worked closely with the customer to design the project to facilitate constructability. The 1,200-slip boat marina covers approximately 2,300 feet by 800 feet at the base of Magnolia Bluff in Seattle.
Key elements of the work included dike and breakwater construction as well as a “rubble mound” breakwater. The 500,000 cubic yard breakwater, reaching an elevation of 20 feet, was installed for protection to the south. Additionally, a 850 linear foot breakwater was constructed of steel H-piles and concrete panels to protect the west face.
Facility improvements also included sewer and water line installation and asphalt paving. Concrete bridge roadway off-ramps to the site were also constructed.
Environmental compliance was achieved for this project through establishing mitigation fish habitats to replace those lost by construction.
Performance
Manson received a Letter of Commendation from the Elliot Bay Marina Group for this project.
